Raman's cleverness
Once upon a time there lived a chieftain named Baldev in the village of Hanspur. He was very stingy and avoided spending money for the welfare of the people. Once there was a severe drought in that village, due to which people were facing a lot of problems for drinking water.
The people of the village continued their work for a few days by bringing water from another village, but after that they also refused to give water. After this the people of the village went to the headman and asked him to dig a well in the village so that the people of the village could drink water from it in case of drought.
The chief said that it will take a lot of money to dig the well, I do not have that much money. He said this and left. A clever boy named Raman lived in the village. He told the villagers that we the villagers should dig the well together.
All the villagers agreed to this point of his. All the villagers collected money and started digging the well. After digging the well for a few days, a huge stone came down in the well. Due to which the work of digging the well stopped.
More money was needed to break the stone but the money deposited was not enough for him. Raman told the villagers, now leave this work to me. Raman came in the night when no one was there and put 5 - 6 casks of oil in that well.
In the morning, when the people of the village saw the oil in the well, the news spread in the whole village that oil was coming out of the well. When the head of the village came to know that oil was coming out of the well, he said to the villagers in greed, I break this stone and I dig the well completely.
After this he started digging the rest of the well. In a few days the entire well went away by itself. The chief was expecting oil to come out of it but water started coming out of the well. All the villagers were very happy to get the water.
The chief comes to know that someone has fooled him. In this way, due to Raman's cleverness, the villagers' money was saved and the well itself went.
